CIMA+ is currently seeking for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer. Your tasks and responsibilities will primarily consist of acting as a commissioning Engineer to reporting to the Senior Project Manager, your main task will be to participate in the commissioning of multi-disciplinary projects of various size and nature; you will be working on generation, renewable energy, transport or distribution electrical substations throughout Ontario (office in Vaughan). 




  • Commissioning scope definition, technical specifications;
  • Perform relay program;
  • Perform relay testing including relay injection;
  • Produce commissioning test sheet for major electrical equipment;
  • Perform commissioning of major high voltage and medium voltage electrical equipment;
  • Perform power systems studies in steady state mode such as short-circuit, load flow, coordination and arc flash studies;
  • Perform soil resistivity test and grounding grid resistance;
  • Participate or lead in the protection & control systems design;
  • Participate or lead the auxiliary AC and DC systems design;
  • Planning, scheduling and estimating (Engineering and Construction);
  • Engineering coordination with other disciplines;
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program - May assist or be responsible for quality assurance/quality control activities such as: Encourage project team knowledge of and compliance with department quality assurance and quality control guidelines;
  • Project Scope/Cost/Time Management - Be knowledgeable regarding the project scope/cost/time requirements and assist team in meeting expectations;
  • Advises direct supervisor and/or Engineering and Project Management team regarding any issues, staffing requirements, progress slippage, scope changes, budget overruns, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability;
  • Perform regular documented reviews, maintain monthly progress report, and issue updates accordingly;
  • Produce protective relay program according to protection philosophy and power systems studies;
  • Perform electrical project feasibility studies.


  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering;
  • Must have a minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience working with electrical power projects;
  • Member of the PEO;
  • Excellent knowledge of intelligent protective relays and manufacturers;
  • Excellent knowledge of IEEE and Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Knowledge in power system studies (PSS);
  • Knowledge of PSS software, EasyPower, ETAP, SKM,CYME;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD;
  • Experience in engineering consulting will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent leadership, positive attitude and communication skills;
  • Ability to work with remote employees;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages are preferred;
  • Must be proficient (verbal and writing) in English;
  • Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks quickly;
  • Excellent decision making skills and is open minded to alternative solutions;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees.
