INTERN, SCIENCE REPORTER
Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet.
The Betty and Gordon Moore Center for Science is in need of a Science Reporter with exceptional writing skills and storytelling ability who has a strong desire to help us tell our Science stories. The Science Reporter will help us communicate our research, tell our stories, and create content that positions our scientists as thought leaders in their area of research and conservation.
The reporter we’re looking for has an interest in both short-form and long-form storytelling, and is willing to work closely with our scientists to interpret and communicate their work, findings, and conservation recommendations. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in Nature, Science and Conservation.
The job will mean two to three posts a week, with longer, deeper reporting publishing at least once a week; there will also be involvement with our editorial team vetting ideas, writing and fact-checking scripts and generating social posts to promote the stories. So speed, of course, is clutch. Storytelling is the most compelling way to engage people’s attention on what can be a slightly abstract subject — and a great reporter knows how to tell the human stories. Those are the kind of stories we are looking to tell.
We expect that all employees will embrace the values of our organization.
Passion: We are inspired by nature and cherish the diversity of life in all of its forms.
Respect: We respect and trust each other, and we embrace our diversity of cultures, talents, and experiences.
Integrity: We act with integrity and are accountable for our actions.
Optimism: We are optimistic about the future of life on Earth and are confident that, with our partners, we will achieve unprecedented conservation results.
Courage: We tirelessly pursue our vision, taking bold action and persevering through challenges.
Teamwork: We work together, recognizing that openness, collaboration and cooperation are fundamental to achieving a healthy and prosperous world for all.
