The Opportunity
  • Provides primary care to the various lab animals under study in the toxicology department and performs routine invasive and non-invasive technical and dosing procedures while ensuring they are conducted according to teh Client's study protocol, company SOP's, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations and the guidelines

How you will contribute to make a difference
  • Assumes responsibility for one or more basic study types and prepares associated equipment, materials and data files

  • Maintains high standards of animal room hygiene and presentation  

  • Captures a broad range of data utilizing the department’s on-line data capture system and manually records data

  • Recognizes signs of pain and distress and takes appropriate action to alleviate such conditions. Accurately produces and submits veterinary requests

  • Under the direction of the Veterinarian and Study Director, provides necessary treatment to animals

  • Assesses the clinical condition of animals and accurately records observations in accordance with defined terminology

  • Due to the strict schedule-driven nature of this position, attendance, punctuality and flexibility are essential requirements

  • BA or BS in Animal Science or Biology is preferred; however, equivalent experience is acceptable

  • Routinely carry/lift loads of 20-50lbs; may occasionally lift >50 lbs

  • Routinely work with chemicals and/or other pharmaceutical test materials

  • Wear respiratory protection and/or other personal protective equipment as required
