Job Summary:

The Procurement Analyst is responsible for managing category spend for ingredients and packaging by developing and using sophisticated data analysis to make decisions in line with the overall Procurement Strategy and in the company’s best interests.  In this role, the Procurement Analyst will develop models to aggregate data from multiple financial and operational sources and then based on the results, will contract supply for category spend including but not limited to potato flour, yeast, nonfat milk, corrugate, paperboard, and film.  The Procurement Analyst will also manage all request for quotes processes on all procurement strategy categories, from the initial data collection and verification to proposal analysis.  The Procurement Analyst must be able to understand market influences and category trends to establilsh supply sources and present supporting analysis for the decisions.  The role will be collaborating with operations, marketing, and finance so must have an elevated ability to summarize and present supporting data for sourcing decisions and execution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 30% Manage procurement for categories that are low to medium in complexity and spend, by understanding strategy, supply markets, and category supply chain processes
  • 20% Develop cost models, gather bid data, analyze complex supplier proposals and either award contracts or in some categories, make highly educated recommendations on high value categories
  • 10% Summarize financials (e.g. budget vs actuals, contract commitments vs forecasts, price variance, commodity market analysis) and present to management as support to business plans and strategies
  • 10% Review contracts and non disclosure agreements, modifying as necessary to meet business needs and influencing suppliers to agree on terms
  • 5% Manage supplier relationships with responsibility for bringing resolution on day to day issues related to pricing, product availability, and ongoing projects
  • 5% Conduct industry analysis and identify industry trends on an ongoing basis
  • 5% Identify and execute cost savings initiatives that support the department’s overall savings goal, along with developing cost savings tracking models for whole department
  • 5% Support supplier transitions as needed, by monitoring liabilities, enabling supplier set up and ensuring accurate documentation
  • 5% Create supplier scorecard and automate updates through data gathering and analsysis
  • 5% Work with QA to support all SQF guidelines and supplier requirements, track QA SCARS and associated refunds, and assist in QA supplier set up documentation management as required
  • Skills/Work Experience:

    • A personal commitment and ability to demonstrate the King’s Hawaiian core values
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, computer science, or business, MBA preferred
    • 2+ years of work experience in the areas of supply chain or procurement
    • Advanced ability to build financial tools to manage spend, model costs, mitigate risks, collect data, and develop reports
    • Supplier management experience and relationship building skills (internal and external stakeholders)
    • Experience in commodities, procuring ingredients and packaging preferred
    • Advanced Excel skills and basic SQL required, data visualization skills (e.g. Tableau) preferred
    • Working knowledge of MAS, MRP, SAP or related procurement systems preferred
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Project, Powerpoint, Word)
    • Highly organized individual with initiative, problem solving and critical thinking skills, and excellent time management capabilities
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to apply influence and work collaboratively
