Resources for the Future (RFF) is a nonprofit, non-advocacy research and public policy organization that focuses on a variety of natural resource, public health, and environmental issues. Established in 1952, the organization is committed to both scholarly excellence and policy analysis. Researchers at RFF address a wide range of issues including benefit-cost analysis of environmental and other health and safety regulations; economics of public health and disease interventions; the economics of energy and the environment, forestry, biodiversity, water, and other resources; issues related to the environment and the economy of developing countries; and conceptual modeling and analysis of public policy pertaining to these topics.


Resources for the Future ( has an opening for Development Officer for Individual Giving. A candidate should have three to five years of fundraising experience or relevant nonprofit external affairs experience required. Familiarity with environmental issues and/or economic principles preferred.  We are looking for applicants with the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational and relationship building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other fundraising databases
  • Positive, helpful, and proactive demeanor
  • Detail oriented

The Development Officer is responsible for assisting with the operations of RFF’s individual fundraising activities. The Officer works primarily with the Director of Donor Relations to assist with planning and implementation of strategies to achieve RFF’s fundraising goals associated with individuals. Principle duties include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Assist with the stewardship of major donors
  2. Assist in the cultivation and solicitation of major donor prospects
  3. Manage all aspects of the annual fund comprised of gifts less than $1,000.
  4. Manage RFF’s participation in the Combined Federal Campaign
  5. Participate in the development and execution of fundraising events
  6. Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping, primarily in Raiser’s Edge database.   
  7. Assist with management of special projects as assigned
