Accounting Clerk (One Year Contract)

General Purpose:  


The Accounting clerk performs a variety of support tasks as part of the Finance team. These tasks include but are not limited to accounts payable and accounts receivable data entry, filing, answering the phone, ordering supplies and other support tasks as required.

Job Qualifications: 

Strong organizational and communication skills.
The ability to operate accounting software.
Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite capabilities
Excellent attention to detail
Must be a team player within a large multifunctional organization
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet A/R and A/P processing deadlines
College Diploma or equivalent work experience within an accounting/finance role
Bi-lingual (French) an asset, but not required

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Provides support to Finance team members as needed
Promptly enters A/P; codes to the correct general ledger accounts; confirms correct approval and verifies all required documentation.
Observes and upholds accounts payable policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Maintains contact with vendors regarding any AP matters
Observes and upholds accounts receivable policies, procedures, and internal controls
Executes daily printing, folding, stuffing and mailing of invoices
Reviews invoices/credit memo’s for mailing/bounce back emails (invoices/statements)
Applies payments received to appropriate ledger accounts
Answers the phone and other reception desk duties
Participates in special projects as required
Upholds and respects various processing deadlines including tight month end and year end deadlines
