General Purpose:  An Analyst within our Dispute Consulting group is expected to have assignments in a variety of industries and to receive some level of client exposure.  Assignments may include litigation/dispute matters for which damages are determined, forensic accounting, fraud investigations, and intellectual property valuation projects.  Most projects will typically result in the creation of an expert report and the delivery of expert witness testimony by senior-level practitioners.  Dispute projects will primarily relate to patent infringement, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, labor disputes, general commercial damages (e.g., breach of contract, etc.), and others.  The selected candidate may also assist senior Stout practitioners with business development and marketing activities including the development of presentations, articles, pitchbooks, and proposals, and the performance of research supporting such projects.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performance of financial analysis and development of related financial models
  • Review, organization, and analysis of case documentation, testimony, and court filings
  • Performance of research functions
  • Ability to summarize relevant financial and accounting information
  • Preparation of written reports and/or graphical exhibits
  • Performance of quality control procedures for client deliverables


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of financial documents used in day-to-day business operations and transactions
  • Ability to critically analyze financial statements, accounting records, and other financial documents
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments/opinions
  • Ability to conduct thorough research
  • Excellent team player
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to work with changing client/court-imposed deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexible with the travel requirements of client service projects


Education and/or Training:

  • 4 year undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, and/or economics
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant litigation consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, professional/public accounting, and/or assurance/audit experience preferred
  • CPA (or in process) preferred
