General Purpose:  A Senior Analyst within our Dispute Consulting Group will have assignments in a variety of industries and receive client exposure early in his or her career.  Assignments include forensic accounting, investigations, and litigation related projects which will support the delivery of expert witness testimony.  Types of disputes include, transactional/M&A disputes, forensic investigations, intellectual property disputes, labor and employment disputes, valuation, commercial damages (i.e., breach of contract, theft of trade secrets) and related matters. Senior Analysts are assigned to project teams working under the direction of engagement leaders.  Clients may be based locally, regionally, or in other locations.  Periodic travel may be required depending on the project.  The selected candidate may also assist senior Stout practitioners with business development and marketing activities including the development of presentations, articles, pitchbooks, and proposals, and the performance of research supporting such projects. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performance of financial analysis and modeling
  • Review, organization, and analysis of case documentation, testimony, and court filings
  • Performance of company, industry, and case-specific research functions
  • Preparation of written reports and graphical exhibits
  • Participation in marketing and thought leadership efforts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to critically analyze financial statements, accounting records, tax returns, and other financial documents
  • Understanding of financial documents used in day-to-day business operations and transactions
  • Proficient in using spreadsheet software (Excel), database software (Access), and other data analysis tools to build detailed, complex financial models to trace actual transactions and/or create flexible and robust scenario analyses
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments/opinions
  • Ability to conduct thorough and relevant research
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability and flexibility to work with changing, client-imposed deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and/or Training:

  • 4 year undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant professional experience in the accounting, finance, or economic disciplines.  Litigation consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, professional/public accounting, and/or assurance/audit experience preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or CFE designation preferable (or CPA/CFA/CFE - track)
