Kamylon Capital is a principal investment firm focusing on LargeLocal businesses which are largely underserved by conventional institutional investors. These businesses typically generate $2 million to $10 million in cash flow. Throughout its history, Kamylon has demonstrated its ability to preserve and enhance the value of the businesses in its portfolio. We identify opportunities through our uncommon investment origination process. Kamylon is based in Wellesley Hills, MA twenty minutes due west of Boston and invests primarily in companies based in North America.

We have a hands-on approach to our investments and add value to our portfolio companies through implementation of the Kamylon Performance Improvement (KPI) system.



Kamylon has a value investor orientation, always looking for interesting investment opportunities at attractive valuations. We are able to invest at all levels of the capital structure in a wide variety of industries in the manufacturing, distribution and services sectors. We focus primarily on mature, attractive, cash flow positive businesses with a defensible strategic position and potential for value creation through growth and/or operational improvement.



Attracting, developing and retaining talent is the critical underpinning of KPI. Upgrading talent is a fundamental part of how we add value to our portfolio companies. Building a world class talent management process and attracting top talent is a strategic priority for the Firm.

We believe in building relationships with a strong pipeline of talent rather than simply filling open positions when needed in a portfolio company. To that end, we nurture relationships with talented up and coming and experienced executives even if we don’t have a specific opening or they don’t have any immediate plans to move on from their current assignment. We also work with experienced senior executives to develop an investment thesis and help source and execute acquisitions on their behalf.


Across all roles Kamylon focuses on recruiting and developing world class talent that has potential to grow. Experience required varies by role. In some cases deep industry domain expertise is important. In others, we believe that well developed general management skills combined with a sharp intellect and a willingness to learn can enable executives to excel outside of their area of domain expertise. In other cases, we look for well proven business and process improvement skills that can be applied across a multitude of businesses. Some common characteristics we screen for are as follows:


  • A person of principle, impeccable character, and integrity who shares the values of the firm
  • A relevant undergraduate degree from a top-tier university
  • Exemplary record of professional, academic, extracurricular, and leadership achievement
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • A desire to take on broad leadership (and ownership) roles in medium sized businesses rather than stay on the promotion treadmill in a much larger enterprise
  • Proven track record of driving business results
  • A willingness and desire to ‘roll up the sleeves’ to make things happen in the smaller enterprise
  • High energy and enthusiasm required to succeed in a strongly performance and improvement oriented culture
  • Analytical skills, excellent judgment, and strategic problem-solving capabilities along with the ability to rapidly synthesize information and present it to colleagues in a clear and concise fashion
  • Willingness to, and experience of, working in a highly systematic and disciplined fashion and to embrace/deploy all elements of the Kamylon Performance Improvement system (lean, six sigma, sales & marketing best practices, goal deployment, talent & performance management processes etc)


Unlike most private equity firms, Kamylon actively manages its pool of top talent across its portfolio of operating companies. A successful executive can expect to see career progression in one of several ways:


  • Rotation from Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to line roles to GM roles
  • Involvement in deal origination, evaluation and execution
  • Movement between portfolio companies to develop experience & skills
  • Promotion from a line role to GM role
  • Growth in responsibilities within a business as part of a buy-and-build strategy
  • Progression from smaller to larger GM roles
  • Progression to Operating Partner role with oversight of multiple businesses



Kamylon’s investment philosophy is based upon value creation achieved through our uncommon deal origination and hands on ownership approach. Unlike many principal investment firms, we focus on building long term value in partnership with our portfolio companies through continuous operational improvement and revenue growth, versus financial engineering. Our expectation is that Operating Partners will oversee multiple firms in our portfolio and actively contribute to the strategic, operational and talent development of those firms. They are supported by our portfolio management team to help leverage their wealth of hands on experience, industry knowledge and operational expertise to drive results. As company Chairperson, board member or sometimes interim CEO, Operating Partners identify and drive growth and improvement initiatives that generate greater sales and earnings, increasing the value of the companies in which we invest.


Operating Partners also leverage their industry expertise and professional networks, working in concert with our investment teams, to identify acquisition targets and execute deals. At the onset, they typically start out as retained independent consultants while we work together to identify and assess relevant acquisition targets. This arrangement may be full time or part time depending upon the executive’s current circumstances. Time to acquisition will be dependent on how many potential deals an Operating Partner has visibility to, their relative state of development/readiness and of course time commitment. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have clear line of sight to one or more specific, attractive deal opportunities that have cash flows in excess of $10mm and a high likelihood of closing quickly.


Once the Operating Partner successfully introduces an investment opportunity, on an exclusive basis, we are happy to pay a finder’s fee upon consummation of the first few transactions. Once a deal closes, we anticipate that the Operating Partner involved would formally join the firm as a full time Associate and be appointed to the board of the new portfolio company and compensated accordingly. That compensation would include a significant incentive equity upside in each acquired company.


In addition to overseeing the operations of the newly acquired business (in some cases as interim CEO depending upon the circumstances)  the Operating Partner would continue to work on deal origination initiatives with the objective of transacting further acquisitions and building out a portfolio of companies that they would oversee on behalf of the Firm.




Kamylon Operating Partners come from a variety of backgrounds; however there are a number of similarities in their respective skill sets and senior management career experience. These include:


  • An exceptional track record as a general manager with proven ability to grow profits and value as demonstrated in more than one organization and industry
  • A well developed point of view on investment opportunities (attractiveness, value, merits and risks) within their areas of domain expertise. Knowledge of and access to specific investment opportunities is strongly preferred
  • An extensive network and prominent reputation as well as an appetite to leverage these to originate and execute deals
  • Energy, drive and humility to engage Kamylon investment colleagues in a collaborative, non-hierarchical manner
  • Very strong financial acumen, analytical and business problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and systematically diagnose and quantify risks and opportunities for business performance improvement
  • Strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate strategic imperatives to clear, actionable goals & metrics throughout the organization
  • Action and results orientation with strong skills in goal deployment and rigorous performance management to align organizations and drive results through others
  • Well developed leadership skills, knowing when to step back empowering management, when to coach and when to aggressively take charge
  • Passion for and proven track record of coaching, developing and top-grading management talent
  • Strong continuous improvement skill set (lean six sigma, complexity reduction) and an ability to employ modern professional management techniques to design and drive significant strategic, operational and organizational change
  • Prior experience working in high performing business cultures
  • Top tier undergraduate degree and MBA preferred
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% to support portfolio company operations
