Dexis is seeking an experienced Research Assistant to support an assessment of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) policy on Development Response to Violent Extremism and Insurgency (VEI). This task is part of the Learning and Knowledge Management (LEARN) contract’s work with USAID’s Bureau of Policy, Planning and Learning’s Policy office (PPL/P). The work location for this position will be in Washington, DC. This is a part-time consultancy. The anticipated start date for this position is June 2017.



  • Support the development of assessment research questions, approach, and  methodology
  • Support data collection and analysis under the guidance of the Technical Expert
  • Work with the Technical Expert to contribute to the drafting of the Final Report, including relevant annexes and/or data visualization
  • Support the Technical Expert in drafting and preparing a final presentation for the VEI Policy Assessment Report as needed
  • Support the Technical Expert in facilitating a data validation workshop
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Technical Expert to meet with USAID, LEARN, and stakeholders in order to facilitate the smooth implementation of the project



  • Master’s Degree and 3 years relevant experience OR Bachelor’s and 5 years relevant experience
  • 3 years experience in project management-related work
  • Previous experience in/familiarity with VEI preferred
  • Ability to gather information and present analysis in a competent and engaging manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in international development required with USAID experience preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams
