Description

SUMMARY

Primary duties to case pick/hand stack individual cases ranging between 15 lbs to 40 lbs utilizing a single pallet truck. Position will also be responsible for driving electric powered industrial truck equipped with single fork to move pallets from the floor or rack to the pick line in preparation for to load the trailers for shipment. Drive a single cab yard tractor. Safely and accurately drive the tractor to spot trailers on the Kings Hawaiian Property. Candidate will be accountable to all productivity and high quality service standards to our customers through safe, efficient, damage free, cost effective and accurate storage and handling.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Loads bakery products accurately and securely into trucks for delivery to our customers.

  2. Receives incoming goods into building utilizing material handling equipment.

  3. Verifies the quantities and inspects the quality of the goods being received.

  4. Fills out all necessary paperwork with the required information for shipment and receiving of goods.

  5. Contacts Purchasing Coordinator and Foreman for any variances between PO and Bill of Ladings.

  6. Checks product on inbound / outbound to ensure that items and quantities are correct and that there is no damage. Notifies Foreman of any discrepancies.

  7. Hand stacks individual cases weighing 15 lbs to 40 lbs from one pallet to another or onto the floor of a trailer.

  8. Must complete functions completely and correctly on paperwork or on RF computer units.

  9. Maintains cleanliness and keeps the warehouse and freezer areas organized.

  10. Moves finished goods from the packaging department to the shipping docks and other parts of the building using hand trucks or if certified, with the aid of forklifts as well as pallet jacks.

  11. Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials/pallets or and transports load to designated area.

  12. Performs daily maintenance inspections of equipment.

  13. Promotes safety in the work area by understanding and complying with safety procedures and reporting all accidents in a timely manner.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  15. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  16. Forklift Operators must have one year of warehouse and forklift experience and have previous fork lift certification. In house certification will be required.

  17. Yard Tractor Operators must have minimum one year warehouse and yard tractor experience. Pass the Kings Written Certification Test and pass the visual performance test of driving ability.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Duties may require use of equipment in machine shop, small portable equipment and manual tools. Duties may require occasional operation of a motor vehicle or travel to another state on behalf of the company.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is scheduled to work on a shift basis.  May also be scheduled to work all shifts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold.  The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
