Description

This is a position in the Engineering Division of the Utilities Department. The work consists of the coordination/design efforts for water, sewer, and reclaimed water relocations in conjunction with FDOT, County Public Works, and Municipal Capital Improvement Projects (CIP). Manage relocation programs, emergency repairs, and other pipeline improvement projects.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • 8 years of technical and professional level experience in pipe design or pipe line construction that includes 1 year of lead worker or supervisory training; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, information technology, economics, health science, math, chemistry, physics, or subject directly related to the specialized assignments and 4 years’ experience of technical and professional level experience in pipe design or pipe line construction that includes 1 year of lead worker or supervisory training; or
  • Master’s degree and 2 years’ experience of technical and professional level experience in pipe design or pipe line construction that includes 1 year of lead worker or supervisory training; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Highly Desirable

  • 10 years technical experience in the management/design of water, sewer and reclaimed water relocation projects
  • Experience working on pipe line relocations in conjunction with FDOTs, County and City projects
  • Experience managing utility relocation projects.
  • Proficiency with different computer software like excel, adobe, etc
  • Proficiency in setting budgets and tracking expenditures

Illustrative Tasks (These are only examples and are not all inclusive)

  • Manage the coordination of Utilities relocation designs associated with FDOT, County, and Cities improvement projects.
  • Manage the Annual Water and Reclaimed Water Contract.
  • Work closely with the Senior Engineers and Project Coordinators in the Utilities Engineering Section by assisting in the management of water, sewer, and reclaimed water relocation projects and programs.
  • Manage the Material Specification Product Approval process.
  • Manage each project by coordinating the design phase of the project through construction and project closeout.
  • Work as part of a team to produce plans and specifications needed to advertise contracts for award.
  • Track program budget.
  • Generate work orders.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Review and Approve Contractor’s application for payment.
  • Ensure contract compliance.
  • Complete contract closeout procedures.
  • Design the required elements of utility engineering relocation projects.
  • Manage engineering consultants to accomplish project goals and schedules.
  • Responsible for contract administration services for all consulting engineering contracts which entails preparing progress reports, attending meetings, tracking of consultant progress, reviews of plans and specifications, review of pay requests, and coordination and review of construction activities.
  • Performs related work as assigned or required.
