Starting Salary Structure

New Lifeguards:

$12.55/hr.

 

New Sr. Lifeguards:

$13.86/hr.

Returning Lifeguards:

$12.92/hr.

Returning Sr. Lifeguards:

$14.27/hr.

New Lifeguard w/ EMT certification:

$13.17/hr.

New Sr. Lifeguards w/ EMT certification:

$14.55/hr.

Returning Lifeguard w/ EMT certification:

$13.56/hr.

Pinellas County Government is seeking Lifeguards for various locations within the County. These are seasonal temporary positions performing skilled public safety work preventing injury or death in county open water swimming areas. Employees in these positions safeguard patrons at county open water swimming areas to prevent injury or loss of life by drowning and administer first aid or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as required. Duties include routinely working on weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification or equivalent; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess an American Red Cross or equivalent current C.P.R./A.E.D. for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.
  • Must possess an American Red Cross or equivalent current First Aid certification.
  • Must pass the following Physical agility pre-hire tests:
    • 500 meter swim under 10 minutes
    • One mile run under 8 minutes, Rescue
  • Ability to work other County Beach Parks as schedule and staffing demands.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Drivers' License.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

  • Current First Responder, E.M.T. or Paramedic certification.
  • Coast Guard Boating safety certification 8 hrs.
  • Three months of responsible lifeguarding experience
