 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Image Editor is responsible for editorial image management across Urban One’s family of websites. This position will ensure images are used up to quality and legal standards, will help manage relationships with image vendors, track usage and approve images as necessary. The Image Editor will ensure gallery and image experience across the sites are best of breed and will work with national and local editorial teams to ensure image needs are met and proper galleries utilized. They will also be the primary trainer for editorial teams for legal best practices as well as image tools. The position will also work closely with the social and creative service teams to find appropriate images for campaigns and will lead other image-related projects as needed.


 CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Manage photo database to ensure legal and quality standards are met.
  • Create galleries for use on Urban One’s family of sites.
  • Organize galleries in a way writers and editors can best find and leverage them on sites and social.
  • Work with legal team to ensure editorial, sales and marketing teams are up to date and executing legal guidelines.
  • Analyze data to determine best practices and ROI for image use.
  • Work with product to ensure gallery and image experience are best of breed.
  • Execute any other projects or objectives give by Vice President of Content Strategy & Operations.

 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of experience producing image based content online.
  • Experience working on multiple websites simultaneously.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of how to publish to and maintain a site using a content management system (CMS), WordPress a plus
  • Must know how to perform photo resizing and manipulation using programs including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Familiar with, and knows how to analyze metrics, knowledge of Google Analytics is preferred.
  • Experience training diverse teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • You must have a deep knowledge of African-American music and culture
  • You must be able think creatively and brainstorm as an individual as well as part of small and large groups. 
  • You must be enthusiastic and disciplined; a self-starter that can thrive in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines and aggressive performance targets.
