Brown Emergency Medicine (Brown EM) is the academic emergency medicine physician practice plan of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Brown EM provides emergency department staffing for Rhode Island Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in this region; Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Rhode Island’s only children’s specialty hospital; The Miriam Hospital, a leading community teaching hospital and Newport Hospital, a community Magnet Hospital. Brown EM member physicians and providers treat over 250,000 patients per year at our 4 clinical sites, drawing patients from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. As a non-profit foundation, Brown EM is committed to its mission and vision of academic and research support.
Brown EM is looking for a part-time, (approx. 16-18 hrs/wk) Research Grant Writer who will be responsible for writing grant applications for our organization. The Research Grant Writer will work collaboratively with physicians and research scientists to write coherent, organized and compelling proposals with the goal of increasing the number of successful grant submissions, especially to federal funding agencies. This individual will also be responsible for identifying and responding to funding opportunities for research, drafting research budgets, literature reviews, and editorial tasks related to the preparation of grant applications. The Research Grant Writer may also collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with other fundraising projects, preparation of other scientific documents, and development of relationships with stakeholders.
The Research Grant Writer will report to the Vice Chair of Research and will be based in Providence (partial remote work is also possible). The position responsibilities will be customized to the qualifications of the person filling the role. Other responsibilities may include:
