We are currently looking for Waste and Recycling Attendant to work as part of the busy Public Facilities department in full time capacity. The successful person will be responsible for operating the garbage collection and hook trucks, both for general waste and recycling materials, compaction of general waste in bins and generally improving the recycling and waste management on Hamilton Island.

About the Role

  • Ensure the safe operation of garbage collection vehicles and bins around the island
  • Operation of a front end loader and forklift
  • Manually loading and unloading bins into truck
  • Liaise with island departments to ensure correct delivery and collection rosters are met
  • Administrative tasks
  • Operate glass crushing plant, baler and mulcher

About You

  • HR or HC licence, and valid high risk forklift ticket
  • Previous experience in transport with a sound driving record, waste and recycling experience desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Up to date immunisations or willing to obtain 
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to drive a manual truck
  • Experience working in labour intensive and warm weather conditions
