Working Title:    Identity Management Engineer

Location:           400 S. Fort Harrison Ave.; Clearwater, FL  33756 

We are seeking a forward thinking problem solving infrastructure professional with expertise in the area of Identity Management to join our team of specialized server administrators and engineers producing expert analytical and technical work products in support to Pinellas County affiliates, departments, and organizations. The incumbent identifies and resolves complex work problems while supporting and mentoring newer employees.  Work requires creative and original thinking and is performed under the general direction of senior professionals with extensive latitude for individual and team initiative, judgment, and discretion. The incumbent works with customers to determine hardware, software, and system functional requirements to maintain operations and production, as well as achieve business objectives. Work requires advanced proficiency in the area of identity management, directory structures, Active Directory, Linux/Unix operating systems.  Preferred experience will be in NetIQ, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), ADFS, SAML and Red Hat Linux.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

  • 7 years of technical and professional experience with 3 years of experience working with identity management systems such as NetIQ, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) or Novell Identity Management Applications and 1 year of professional team leadership or supervision in these areas; or
  • Associate’s degree in information technology and 5 years of technical and professional experience with 3 years of experience working with identity management systems such as NetIQ, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) or Novell Identity Management Applications and 1 year of professional team leadership or supervision in these areas; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology and 3 years of professional and technical experience working with identity management systems such as NetIQ, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) or Novell Identity Management Applications and 1 year of professional team leadership or supervision in these areas; or
  • Master’s degree in information technology and 1 year of professional and technical experience working with identity management systems such as NetIQ, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) or Novell Identity Management Applications and 1 year of professional team leadership or supervision in these areas; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check and become CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems) certified. 

Highly Desirable

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with either Linux or Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience either Microsoft MIM or Novell Identity Management Applications
  • Experience with enterprise Virtualization environments (VMware).
  • Experience with Active Directory administration (or other Directory Services).
  • Experience with Active Directory Federation Services or other Authentication Systems
  • Knowledge of SAML/OAuth and Industry standards and best practices for authentication and authorization.
  • Knowledge of Identity Management industry standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of LDAP v3 Directory Structures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions, priorities, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to document processes and procedures and contribute to knowledge databases
  • Experience with Service Management Framework; ITIL preferred.
  • Ability to mentor team-mates, lead teams, and facilitate groups to achieve success with others.
  • Desire to self-develop relevant job-related skill(s) for current and future roles.
  • Demonstrated competence or possession of certifications in one or more specific IT functions: Red Hat RHCSA or RHCE.

Illustrative Tasks (These are examples and are not all inclusive.)

  • Scripting and programming in python, bash, powershell or other languages.
  • Support project teams, with the ability to lead complex efforts.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Utilize industry best practices, champion the adoption of new technologies while working through appropriate channels and processes.
  • Maintains and builds positive relationships within the BTS Team and with members of other County Agencies and Vendors.
  • Provides technical mentoring as needed to ensure that single points of failure are eliminated.
  • Stays on the cutting edge of relevant technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by taking ownership of assignments and driving issues to a successful close, even when accountability for those issues crosses organizational boundaries.
  • Implements system upgrades and patches.
  • Perform operational procedures and support including administration, maintenance, performance monitoring/optimization, capacity planning, space management and recovery.
  • Performs request, configuration, and management of relevant technologies.
  • Technical troubleshooting of hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Maintains 24x7 availability and be willing to provide after-hours support as needed.
