The University of Colorado Hospital in the metro-Denver area is not only a 3 time MAGNET hospital and one of the region’s largest academic teaching hospitals, it consistently ranks among the best academic medical centers in the country by U.S. News & World Report. They have also recognized us as the #1 Hospital in Denver. The University HealthSystem Consortium has honored us as the highest-performing academic hospital in the U.S., an award especially coveted as it is based on quality and safety. Most recently, we have embarked on an exciting partnership with the top-performing Poudre Valley Health System, making us one of the region’s largest locally-owned health systems.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will apply your exceptional skills toward the tasks of obtaining, assembling, testing, cleaning and sterilizing all surgical instruments and setting them up on instrument tables in an orderly fashion. Your commitment to providing impeccable service will ensure constant provision of an aseptic technique and a sterile environment. Hand scrubs as well as instrument, sponge and sharp counts will also be placed in your hands, and you will provide assistance with transporting, lifting and positioning patients. Your ability to be a great listener, to communicate with patients in a soothing, reassuring manner, to remain calm under pressure, and to multi-task will all be critical to your success.
To qualify for this position, we require that you be a graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program of Surgical Technology or an Armed Forces Medical Program for Surgical Technology; CST upon hire is preferred. An American Heart Association BLS is also required. If, however, you have achieved an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology, that would be a real plus. Your work history should be consistent, with proven experience that includes the successful completion of a 500 hour precepted clinical intensive during the basic Surgical Technology Program, or graduation from an Armed Forces Medical Service Program for Surgical Technology. You should also be able to work a full-time weekend shift.
