Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst II

Location: Chesterfield, MO


The Business Intelligence Analyst is a member of the Applications & BI team and is responsible for defining, documenting and developing reporting and analytical solutions utilizing all of Experitec’s Application data within the enterprise reporting framework. The Analyst will assist with developing the Enterprise BI strategy, governance methodology, standards and best practices. She/he will lead small BI analysis and development projects, deliver enhancements and provide support for the overall BI environment including end user reporting tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead small BI projects including defining requirements, developing, documenting and testing the solution. Provide level of effort estimates, work breakdown structures and delivery timeframes.
  • Ensure all delivered solutions follow defined best practices, architecture principles and guidelines.
  • Select and build appropriate data models for each project ensuring flexibility and that the models follow data architecture principals, best practices and guidelines.
  • Provide timely production support and resolution of Help Desk cases.
  • Assist with the definition of both a short-term BI roadmap and long-term BI strategy.
  • Responsible for cube creation and maintenance activities.
  • Participates in design of ETL processes from various platforms for load into the enterprise data warehouse; Validate data load and transformation.
  • Work with dimensional and normalized data models pulling information from transactional systems to deliver appropriate information.
  • Responsible for logical modeling for the data warehouse and/or data marts.
  • Work with the teams across IT to understand reporting and analytic requirements, data structures, data definitions, define data standards and how this translates into cube design and development.
  • Assist, train and coach end users in the Microsoft BI Tools Suite and end user reporting tools and deployment solutions.
  • Work closely with business users on identifying and resolving data quality issues.


Qualifications (Knowledge & Skills)


  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.


  • Minimum of 3 years of business intelligence, financial analytics, or decision support systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft BI Suite (SSRS, SSAS, Power View and PowerPivot).
  • Knowledge of structured data, database management systems.
  • Experience working with reporting across multiple platforms and teams (business and IT).
  • Exposure to reporting governance methodology, standards and best practices.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) tools and SharePoint.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with of SQL.


  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to express technical knowledge, processes and training concepts into easily understood presentations.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, business models, and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of relational models, normal form, ETL, and data warehouses.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of Red Gate or other version control software.
  • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects against deadlines.
  • Strong SQL experience, and understanding of dimensional modeling.
  • Skills in performing detailed data analysis (e.g. determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples).

  • Strong skills with MS Office products.
  • Extensive experience working with diverse business users to understand the business needs/gaps, conducting analysis, and providing options to address current requirements and future business growth.
  • Must be self-motivated, have a strong team orientation and be able to learn quickly.
  • Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent written communication, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with a wide variety of communication styles.
