Valve Performance Engineer


Experitec’s Valve Performance Engineer (VPE) is our advocate for customer results and value received from our control valve technologies.  The mission of Experitec’s VPE is to insure that the customer realizes maximum value from Fisher Controls and Emerson EVA products, services and technologies.  Through on site consulting, technician training, valve application engineering services and IVS repair site leadership, the VPE will create and confirm value with the customer.  In doing this, the VPE will become the customer’s trusted advisor and Experitec will generate customer loyalty.  We expect to enjoy both product and service business growth and stability with our MVC and MGC customers as a result.

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Responsibilities:

  • Consult, train, supervise, support and influence plant maintenance resources to create/capture value in the effective use of our valve products and services
  • Develop a solid understanding of our customer’s production systems & processes and the role & impact of our valve technologies and services
  • Analyze, recommend and implement solutions to value performance problems and related plant performance issues. Increase our customers’ effective use of Emerson valves and MRO services
  • Regularly confirm and document with the customer the value that results
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships at our customers’ facilities with maintenance and operations staff and with sponsors and power sponsors who influence the purchase and use of our Fisher/Emerson valve technologies and MRO services

Corporate (Experitec) Responsibilities:

  • Effectively motivate and utilize factory resources & product specialists, service providers and sales operations to develop and deliver value to our customers
  • Serve as our on-site valve performance champion at the accounts we choose to target 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly understand the technology, products, services and strategic direction of Experitec, Fisher Controls and Emerson Process Management surrounding control valves, automated on/off valves and related services

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Serve the AM’s sales strategy as a technical resource for valve performance
  • Actively work to understand, help develop and support the account strategies lead by our Account Managers
  • Effectively recommend and implement solutions with valve technologies and MRO services at customer sites
  • Actively contribute to our Strategic Account Management process as a team member at our selected MVC and MGC accounts

Goals & Measurements of Success


  • Measurably progress customer adoption of our on-site support, their use of our valve technologies, and their use of our IVS/MRO services
  • Confirm, measure and increase the value our customers receive from our valve technologies and MRO services
  • Develop personal skill and knowledge in valve technologies and customer production processes

Measurements of Success:

  • At our targeted accounts, progress through the event/engagement plan as noted in the attached spreadsheet.
  • Achieve DVC replacement of competitive positioners at 10 account sites
  • Capture 12 QBRs relating to valve performance improvements you accomplish
  • Services growth: Achieve a personal billable services run rate (over 1-2 months) of 50% of your time by Fiscal Year end.
  • Successfully plan & supervise 4 on-site IVS engagements and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Complete training {Fisher: Control Valve Engineering, DVC Diagnostics, Severe Service (online)} and Refining Industry process training and the Colorado School of Mines
