The Media Planner plays an integral role with supporting the planning team across all aspects of the discipline.  Job responsibilities include the ownership of plan and budget data as it relates to assigned brands, the management of plan changes, and general maintenance of activity and its effect on all related outputs, including communication to implementation teams.  The Media Planner will also provide recommendations on how competitive activities can be exploited to our clients’ advantage. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Supervisor to prepare channel neutral media plans inclusive of target and geography analysis, budget allocation across channels, scheduling, support levels, developing and reviewing RFPs, program/site selection and reporting
  • Exercise the channel neutral approach (all channels) to media and framework for thinking
  • Effectively use Relationship Media tools to aid in plan development
  • Analyze media alternatives to recommend how to best allocate the advertising budget
  • Help develop plan metrics and responsible for analysis and related reports pertaining to KPIs
  • Manage day to day plan changes/maintenance of media plans
  • Facilitate competitive analysis on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Develop agency points of view on media opportunities for submission to the client
  • Liaise with implementation teams to ensure that deliverables align with overall plan strategies, timelines are met, and programs/results are coordinated and presented holistically to client
  • Responsible for training and development of Assistant Media Planner(s)
  • Maintain regular contact with junior level clients and account management
  • Play a key role in the budget and client billing process to ensure accuracy

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • 2 years of experience in media planning  


  • Understanding of media basics and concepts
  • Working knowledge of syndicated tools (MRI, comScore, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
