About the team and/or client

 

The Maxus Digital Trading team is integral to the efficient, timely and accurate deployment of campaigns across all agency clients.

 

The team is charged with fostering and leveraging key supplier partnerships in order to create incremental value against our clients core planning and buying investments.

 

The team is expected to stay at the cutting edge of digital landscape and industry investments and provide thought leadership, both internally to senior management and client planning / strategy teams as well as clients at all levels.

 

 

 

The Role Objective

 

Primary (day-to-day) Responsibilities:

 

Relationship Media Process Step One: Mining the Complexity

 

  1. Work with client to suggest, confirm and establish KPI’s and objectives for upcoming campaigns
  2. Attend client briefing sessions for upcoming campaigns and annual planning meetings. Provide brief feedback, queries and suggestions to planning team where applicable.  
  3. Work with Digital Trader to prepare recommendations and supporting research for upcoming campaigns
  4. Prepare, present and confirm internal and annual trading and value objectives for all clients.

 

 

Relationship Media Process Step Three: Making the Simple Magical

 

  1. Oversee Digital Trader with preparation and submission of RFP’s to prospective site partners.
  2. Assess partner proposals with Digital Trader and help select final site list for upcoming campaigns.
  3. Use site trading history reports (generated by Digital Trader) to conduct effective rate (media cost) negotiations with shortlisted site partners.
  4. Present detailed campaign plans / schedules to client and work with planning teams to secure client approval.

 

Relationship Media Process Step Four: Making the Magical Live

 

  1. Submit “post-buy” trading value reports to client
  2. Work with Trading Director to create analysis and review for quarterly and annual client trading presentations to demonstrate value delivered by trading team initiatives
  3. Train and oversee Digital Traders accurate and timely execution of all client campaigns.
  4. Ensure all site partners adhere to Maxus / GroupM MSA’s (Master Service Level Agreements) and Terms and Conditions.
  5. Consult and support clients across Data Privacy regulation and compliance initiatives
  6. Oversee Digital Trader in the creation of best practice campaign performance reports. Present alongside planning team when applicable.
  7. Gain client / planning team approval for optimisation initiatives and oversee implement accordingly.

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

 

  1. Create and publish marketplace rate tracking and spending trend reviews across the agency
  2. Contribution to the generation of pricing guarantees and benchmark information for new business pitches
  3. Work with Trading Director to create Maxus PoV’s which cover key digital landscape developments. These are used to educate the wider agency teams and keep agency clients up to date on important industry topics.

Experience

 

  • 3+ years digital planning and buying experience
  • Proven record of digital campaign implementation and management experience
  • Proven record of managing a team of more than three people
  • Experience of managing significant annual online budgets across multiple clients / brands
  • Ability to manage accounts (or elements thereof) and attend and contribute to meetings unaided by more senior agency members
  • High level experience of strategic use of digital media
  • High level experience of digital brand best practise
  • High level experience of multiple digital media channels (online display, paid search, affiliate marketing, social media, emerging technologies etc)
  • High level experience and understanding of digital media technical operations
  • Extensive experience of performance related buying, analysis, optimisation and digital direct response best practise
  • Excellent working relationships with key online media owners
  • Proven record of effective rate negotiation
  • Excellent history of forging valuable client relationships
  • Experience and understanding of industry research and planning tools (Comscore, Compete, MRI, Hitwise etc.)
  • Working knowledge of industry trafficking and reporting tools (Dart, Atlas, Eyeblaster etc.)
  • Ability to confidently and clearly present work to the client, verbally and in document form.

 

Knowledge

 

  • A desire to understand the broader media landscape and its impact on digital campaigns and strategies.

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Interest in digital disciplines (social media, gaming, mobile, web analytics, emerging technologies etc)
  • Knowledge or experience of the CPG, Financial Services, Entertainment or Pharmaceutical industries.
